Gwyneth Paltrow, who is married to the Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has signed up to perform the role of a country and western singer in the Hollywood film Love Don't Let Me Down.

The film, to be produced by Tobey Maguire, the star of Spiderman, will tell the story of a rising young singer-songwriter, played by Garrett Hedlund, who becomes involved with Paltrow's fallen country

star. When Gwyneth Paltrow sang a karaoke version of Killing Me Softly With His Song at a charity event at Ronnie Scott's jazz club in Soho last year, she won a standing ovation. Now, Mandrake hears that the actress is to demonstrate her musical skills to a much wider audience.
